Whether you’re playing online keno or betting on the horses, online gambling comes with potential risks and can be addictive. Check out Before You Play, a comprehensive source of practical tips and advice to boost your gaming safety and enjoyment.
We took a number of different factors into account when compiling our list of the UK’s best keno casinos. To reassure you of all the elements we consider when reviewing the best keno sites, here’s a summary of our reviewing criteria.
Naturally, a variety of keno tables is essential to the best keno casinos. We like to see games from a number of different software providers, and that cater to a range of different budgets. As most keno players also enjoy the occasional foray into slot games, live dealers or other traditional table games like blackjack and roulette, so we expect there to be plenty of alternative options to keep our keno players invested as well.
Each player will have their own payment preference, and in order to be considered amongst the best keno casinos in the UK, you have to be in a position to support these preferences. Whether you prefer casinos that support PayPal, Open Banking methods like Trustly or prepaid options like Paysafecard, these keno casinos should accommodate you.
Bonuses are an integral part of all online casinos, and keno sites are no exception. Keno players should receive a healthy bonus when they sign up, and should be consistently resupplied with promotions as they go on. Of course, we conduct a thorough review of the relevant bonus terms and conditions to make sure your bonuses are eligible for keno.
There should be multiple customer support options available at the best keno casinos. Our preferred form of customer service is a round-the-clock live chat function, but we understand that not all platforms will be able to provide such a service, so will also accept a responsive email address or phone number.
Often overlooked in casino reviews, we place significant emphasis on the design elements of the best keno casinos. A professional keno site should not only be easy to navigate, with little wasted time between games, but it should also be aesthetically-pleasing. Although these elements are rather subjective, you can easily tell when a keno casino has been designed with the user in mind.
Online Keno Explained
Keno might seem unfamiliar at first, but it’s easy to grasp. It’s much like bingo, where winners are decided based on a set of numbers drawn at random. So, what’s the difference between the two? First, you’re not playing against other people — just the house. Second, you get to pick your numbers yourself. Unlike a round of bingo, where your numbers are pre-printed on the ticket, each game of keno begins with players choosing their numbers. How many you pick is up to you.Â
Most games allow up to 15 or 20 chosen numbers or ‘spots’, usually between 1 and 80. The aim is to hit or ‘catch’ as many numbers as you can, with bigger payouts for more hits. In a real casino, the numbers are drawn by a hopper of balls. When you play online keno, it’s all taken care of by a random number generator (RNG). This bit of software does exactly what it says on the tin — it generates random numbers, which are used to decide the draw.Â
After the draw, winnings are paid out based on how many spots you chose and how many of them hit, along with the size of your stake. To find out your potential winnings, consult the keno paytable — more on that in a moment.Â
How to Play a Round of Keno
Before diving into the paytable, let's quickly recap how to play a round of keno.
STEP 1
Pick your numbers
Choose how many spots you want to include on your ticket and select your numbers. More spots can open up the possibility of higher payouts, but with lower odds. If you like, the game can randomly select some numbers for you instead.Â
STEP 2
Pick how many rounds to play
You can keep the same set of numbers in play for several consecutive rounds — just tick this option on your card.
STEP 3
Wait for the draw
Some keno games are drawn instantly while others are on a schedule. It’s time to cross your fingers and hope your numbers come up!
STEP 4
That's it!
If your numbers do come up, you’ll be paid your prize money automatically. From there, you can call it a day or play again. It’s that simple.
Keno Payouts
How much you win in keno is based on two factors: the number of spots you choose, and how many of them you hit. Each keno game has a paytable indicating the various base payouts. Multiply these by your stake size and you can see what you stand to win.Â
Here’s an example of a paytable for a 10-spot keno game, with spots along the top and hits along the side:

Say you pick five numbers. If 3–5 of them hit, you’ll get a payout between 2x and 200x. But if less than three of them hit, you don’t win anything. The payout multipliers are based on the probability of each combination of spots and hits occurring. We’ll cover that in more detail shortly.
Online Keno Bets
While online keno is a pretty simple game, there are still a few different ways you can bet. Let’s take a look:
Straight bets are your keno bread and butter. This is where you simply select your spots — if you hit enough of them, you get a payout.
Top and bottom bets are where you’re betting on how many numbers will land in a particular half of the board. Say you bet ‘top’ in a 20-spot game from 1–80. That means you’re covering the first 40 numbers on the top of the card, 1 to 40. Your payout depends on how many of the 20 drawn numbers land within that range. A ‘bottom’ bet is the opposite.
Odd and even bets are just like top and bottom bets, but instead of high and low numbers, you’re betting on how many of the picks are odd or even.Â
Combination bets are more complicated and let you bet several groups of spots or numbers on one ticket. Say you want to bet three numbers — 3, 10, and 41. Your friend wants to bet five numbers — 17, 21, 74, 79, and 80. Your ticket now has a three-spot and a five-spot in play. You can also combine these groups together to make an eight-spot, giving you three different ways to win on one keno ticket. One popular combination bet among keno players is the 190-Way Eight, where every possible permutation of eight-spots is covered on the ticket.Â
Keno Odds
Before playing keno online, it’s a good idea to know the odds of winning. This information, in combination with understanding the house edge, can help you decide whether a particular bet is worth making. Here are the odds for a 20-spot keno game:

As you can see, the likelihood of hitting more than 12 numbers grows increasingly slim. Hitting more than 14 spots is incredibly rare. That doesn’t mean it can’t happen, but our advice? Don’t hold your breath!
Online Keno Bonuses
Before you can play keno online, you’ll need to sign up with an online casino that offers the game. And when you do, you’ll be able to take advantage of a welcome bonus. These offers are given to new players to entice them to sign up, and are a great way of boosting your bankroll. There are a few types of bonus up for grabs — let’s take a look.Â
Matched Deposits
If you’re looking for an online keno bonus, matched deposits are your best bet. These offers consist of bonus casino credit, and the amount you get is based on your first deposit. Say you see an offer for a 100% match up to £100. If you deposit £100, you’ll get an extra £100 in bonus funds for a total of £200 to play with. This bonus credit is separate to your real money balance.
Matched deposits are great for keno players as they’re usually quite flexible and can be used on many different games at the site. With that said, check the terms and conditions before you claim to ensure the deposit match is eligible for playing keno online.Â
Free Spins
Fancy a go on the slots without stumping up the cash? Free spins are the bonus for you. Often offered alongside a matched deposit, a bundle of free spins can generally only be used on one or two specific slot titles. We’re not complaining, though — you’ll have a chance to win real cash without staking your own. If you fancy a break from playing keno online, free spins are a good way to dip your toes in the ever-expanding world of online slots.Â
No Wagering Bonus
If you’re looking for a player-friendly promotion with a greater chance of a cash withdrawal, look for a no wagering bonus. While most bonuses have wagering requirements attached — stating how much of your own money you must wager before the bonus can be withdrawn — no wagering bonuses are free of these stipulations. That means any profit is yours to keep. No wagering bonuses are usually smaller in size or come with meaner restrictions elsewhere, such as low winnings caps. It’s worth considering what’s more important to you: more free play or a greater chance at a cash withdrawal.

PayPal
Leading e-wallet PayPal is a fantastic choice for keno deposits. It’s highly secure as you won’t need to share any bank details with the keno site. Instead, this information is stored within your PayPal account — you just need your email and password to transact. Withdrawals are speedy at PayPal casinos too, often landing within a day. One drawback is that PayPal is sometimes excluded from claiming a bonus.

Trustly
Trustly is a payments intermediary built on Open Banking technology. Rather than using your card or bank info to transact, you log in via your online banking portal and connect with Trustly, which handles the rest. Trustly also supports extremely fast withdrawals, with funds usually arriving within two days, and sometimes in just a few hours.Â

Visa Debit
As the biggest payments network in the world, many keno players will already hold a Visa debit card. Using one to deposit is familiar and simple, and highly secure due to modern encryption technology. Withdrawals to Visa are often slower, taking around 3–5 days unless the keno site supports Visa Fast Funds. In that case, you could receive your money within 30 minutes.

AstroPay
Combining e-wallet functionality with virtual prepaid cards, AstroPay is a newer payment service gaining traction in the UK. Once you’re signed up, you can generate and top up virtual cards to make your deposits securely without sharing banking details. You can withdraw back to your AstroPay account as well, later transferring the funds to your bank account or topping up more virtual cards.

Paysafecard
Top prepaid card Paysafecard can be bought at participating retailers around the country for cash. It comes in denominations of £10–£100 and the money can be transferred to your online keno wallet without sharing any personal or banking details. You can’t withdraw to Paysafecard, so you’ll have to combine it with another payment method to do so.
Online Keno Strategies
Applying a betting strategy to online keno is a little different to other casino games. For example, many choose to use a Martingale or D’Alembert betting system for roulette or blackjack to help manage their bankroll. While theoretically you could do this for keno too, it doesn’t really make sense to. Instead, it’s best to set a budget for your session and stop when you’ve reached your limit.Â
When picking your numbers, there are a few strategies you can follow. These won’t necessarily increase your odds of success but can be a fun way to change up your online keno gameplay.
190-Way Eight
One of the most popular combination tickets played in keno is the 190-Way Eight. This ticket covers every combination of eight spots in 80-ball keno, giving you 190 different ways to win. Be sure to check the minimum bet for each ‘way’ here as the ticket can be rather costly.Â
Hot or Cold
Another way to choose your numbers is picking hot or cold ones — the ones drawn most and the ones drawn least, respectively. We should emphasise that this has absolutely zero impact on the likelihood of a number being drawn; online keno is purely down to chance. That said, this can be a fun way of picking your spots.Â
Pick 4–8 Spots
You might see a better chance of success if you pick between four and eight spots. You’re most likely to hit between three and seven spots in 80-ball keno, but you won’t usually receive a payout for these outcomes if you picked more than eight spots.
Online Keno Software Developers
Just like with table games and slots, online keno games are created by different developers. Below are some names to watch out for when picking which keno game to play.
NetEnt
One of the biggest names in the iGaming industry, NetEnt has well over two decades of experience behind it. This developer is perhaps best known for slots like Gonzo’s Quest and Starburst, which commonly crop up in free spins offers. NetEnt also produces some top online keno as well. Bonus Keno features a progressive jackpot where you could win big. Or if you fancy something a bit different, why not give Jungle Keno a try?
Playtech
Another industry giant, Playtech’s empire stretches into every facet of the gambling world, from table games to sports betting and everything in between. Keno is no exception. The developer has created a number of high-quality online keno titles, with several standard 80-ball games, as well as the sci-fi themed Keno Xperiment.
Real Time Gaming
Real Time Gaming may not have the clout of NetEnt or Playtech, but its games are still worth a look when playing online keno. Most of this developer’s titles feature classic themes akin to a keno machine you’d find in a real casino, and are a top choice if you’re looking for a realistic experience.
Compare Sites and Play Keno Online
Now you’re up to speed on all things online keno, why not check out our list of keno sites? Our experts have selected the cream of the crop to make your search easy. Once you’ve found a good fit, click through, claim your welcome bonus, and start playing keno online!
It depends on the game you’re playing and on how many numbers you pick. There’s around a one-in-four chance of winning if you pick a single spot in a game with 80 numbers, for example. Picking between four and eight spots usually has the best odds of winning a prize in 20-spot keno. The odds of hitting the top prizes are incredibly slim — around 1 in 42 million for 15 spots down to 1 in 3.5 quintillion for all 20.Â
There’s no objective answer. It depends on your needs and preferences. Check out our list of the best online keno sites and let our expert reviews help you choose, then click through when you’ve found your perfect match.
We can’t answer this definitively as it depends strongly on how many spots you choose. Selecting between four and eight numbers usually gives you the best chances of winning. Online keno also offers a lower house edge — and therefore a higher RTP — than keno played in real casinos.Â
