I’ve had my qualms with the welcome bonuses on ProgressPlay’s online casino platforms in the past, but am happy to say that the offer at Royal House is slightly more reasonable.

New players can receive a 100% matched deposit bonus worth up to £200, which isn’t much to write home about but is better than what’s on offer elsewhere. I’m used to ProgressPlay casinos asking players to make five separate deposits in order to receive the full bonus amount, but at Royal House you can get the most out of your bonus from just one deposit.

Let’s not get too excited, however. The bonus still comes with 50x wagering, which is consistent across all of ProgressPlay’s brands, and the potential winnings are capped at just 3x the bonus amount. As usual, these terms and conditions more or less render the bonus obsolete, as even if you were to claim just £10 you would still have to wager £500 before making a withdrawal, which would be limited to just £30. Take my word for it, the bonus just isn’t worth it.

That said, you can still use your bonus funds to explore the Royal House games catalogue, just don’t expect to convert any of those funds into withdrawable cash.

Design & Usability

If you’ve played at a ProgressPlay online casino before, then you’ve experienced Royal House’s design. Everything, even down to the colour scheme, is the same across all ProgressPlay brands. Now, this is perhaps not a problem for the majority of players — especially if this is your first time at a ProgressPlay-powered site — but as someone who reviews online casinos I am getting pretty tired of seeing the same design over and over again.

Speaking objectively, however, the site remains well-designed, with a simple layout and some intuitive navigational features. Royal House excels when it comes to providing players with a range of useful filters to help users sift through the massive games library, including giving you the option of compiling your own ‘Favourites’ folder. This is an essential feature for any slots player that likes to stick to the same titles.

The mobile version of the site also offers all of the above, but more on that later.

Royal House Casino, like all of ProgressPlay’s other platforms, really excells when it comes to software. Simply click on the ‘Providers’ tab on the casino’s homepage, and you’ll be greeted by roughly 70 of the iGaming industry’s biggest and best games developers. In amongst the bigger games — Microgaming, NetEnt, Evolution Gaming, etc. — are some newer up-and-comers that are more than worthy of your time.

Royal House plays host to over 2,500 games spanning multiple genres. As usual, the bulk of this games library is made up of slots, which come courtesy of roughly 70 different software providers. These slots cover countless themes and bonus features, and will certainly cater to every player’s preferences.

Elsewhere, there’s an entire section dedicated to live dealer games, which includes blackjack, roulette, baccarat, and a bunch of live game shows from the likes of Playtech and Evolution Gaming.

Royal House also offers plenty of RNG versions of the table games listed above, although these aren’t given their own section or filter, so you’ll need to search for these manually.

I would like to see Trustly added to this list, as it’s personally my favourite way to bank at online casinos, but the current lineup should be more than sufficient.

The difficulty arises when you try to make a withdrawal at Royal House, which generally take much longer than they do at most other online casinos in the UK. Even PayPal withdrawals — generally among the fastest of payout methods — can take up to seven days to appear back in your PayPal balance. Skrill and Neteller are your best shot at a fast withdrawal, with most being processed within 24 hours, but otherwise you may be disappointed.

Support Options

The customer support options are the same across all ProgressPlay brands. You click on the ‘Support’ button to the left-hand side of the page and you’ll be met with a detailed list of FAQs.

These are certainly helpful, but for anything more precise you’ll want to bring up the live chat. This is accessible 24/7, but you’ll be connected to a bot outside of office hours. Even within normal working hours you’ll need to ask to speak to an advisor, or else the rather ineffective bot will try and solve your problem.

If you’re unable to speak to a real advisor, your best port of call will be emailing customersupport@instantgamesupport.com. The casino should get back to you within a few days.

Mobile

Mobile Experience

The mobile-optimised version of Royal House Casino works just as well, if not better than the desktop site. All of the same games, features and navigational tools are available, and become even more accessible and intuitive when accessed on your mobile or tablet.

It would be nice to see a mobile app in the future, but the mobile-optimised site will more than suffice for the time being. I recommend you set up a link to the homepage for quick access, and Apple users will be able to deposit instantly thanks to Apple Pay support.

Summary

All in all, Royal House provides a pretty standard online casino experience. The games on offer are superb, and the site is expertly designed, but there are certainly some improvements to be made, and these are consistent across all platforms powered by ProgressPlay.

Thanks to the wagering requirements and winnings cap, the welcome bonus remains more or less useless for those looking to make some real money, and payments could be much faster. I don’t know of any other site that can have you waiting a whole week for a PayPal withdrawal, so this has to change. The same goes for the customer support, which could be far more efficient.

That said, if you’re not particularly bothered by slower withdrawal speeds and simply want to enjoy some great games, Royal House is still a good choice.
